Valentina Gamberi is an anthropologist who is curious about artefacts with spiritual, magical and sacred power. Currently, she is a MSCA-CZ postdoctoral researcher at Palacký University Olomouc, where she has been completing the project “Processual Decay Paradigm” (funded by OP JAC Project “MSCA Fellowships at Palacký University II.” CZ.02.01.01/00/22_010/0006945).
PDP combines provenance research and ethnography on Chinese folk god statues, investigating the issue of deconsecration and the proper treatment of god statues in museums. “Traces of Guanyin” is one of the outcomes of her MSCA-CZ project and her first curatorial project.
You can find more information about the research project on Valentina’s personal website.
